WS Final: BOS 4 STL 2

Well the last play of these last two games have been so memorable, how can you even take a lead with Beltran batting!
Well Tommorow won't be the last game of the season, but is sets up a good game 5 with Cardinal ace Adam Wainwright facing Jon Lester in tomorrow's game Series tied 2-2

Game 4 Pregame

Game 4 of the 2013 World Series is about to start. See you after the game for analysis and reactions from all four of us
Enjoy!

Game 4 Lineups

Boston Red Sox
1. Jacoby Ellsbury CF
2. Shane Victorino RF
3. Dustin Pedroia 2B
4. David Ortiz 1B
5. Daniel Nava LF
6. Xander Bogaerts 3B
7. Stephen Drew SS
8. David Ross C
9. Clay Bucholtz P

St. Louis Cardinals

5. Yadier Molina C
6. Jon Jay CF
7. David Freese 3B
8. Daniel Descalso SS
9. Lance Lynn P

For Red Sox this is a must win

Everyone has said it nobody wants to be down 3 games to 1 win wainwright and wacha pitching. Red Sox need to win game 4
My Picks Sox 4-0

Clay Bucholtz might not pitch today

Clay is not 100% percent and Jon Lester is getting ready just in case
Felix Dubront is not able to play

Managers Comments

John Farrell-
How could Middlebrooks get out of the way if Middlebrooks is on the ground?
Should have pinch-hit for Wokman
Jim Joyce was first to call Interference NOT Dana DeMuth
Salty shouldn't have thrown down to third
2 errors is two much

Rule 2.00
Up to Judgement of Umpire

MLB Network analist Kevin Millar says that Natural reaction or not it is still Obstrution
Expect the lineup to shuffle for Game 4
Craig might be in the lineup
The throw from Salty HAD to be caught
BOS 5 errors in 3 WS games
Middlebrooks says Craig was pushing off of him
Middlebrooks Impeaded the play

Umpires Comments:
There does not have to be intent
Feet were up in the air
Feet were with the area that Craig needs to run un-obstructed
Joe Torre:
The Umpires made the correct call
Would have been safe if unobtruted
Play rarely happens
Joyce did a great job called obstruction immediately

WS Final STL 5 BOS 4

Rosenthal got the win but that's not the important the game ended on a bottom of the ninth, bases loaded and 1 out play that pedroia tracked Down through to home got a force out, then Salty tries to get Craig at third but the throw was wild and went into left field , Middlebrooks however didn't get out of Craig's way which resulted in an obstruction call. If Jim Joyce didn't make that call Craig would have been out by a mile! Good game with some sloppy defense... Why didn't Wong go to first and then get Ortiz in a rundown? I doesn't matter cause Cardinals will 5-4. Game 4 tommorow!

Final STL 5 Bos 4

WOW!
One of the craziest finishes to a WS game I have ever seen!
Cardinals win in walkoff fashion on a controversial interference call in the bottom of the 9th
STL leads 2-1
Good Night!

Whats happened to the Astros?

Now that I come to think about the Astros have had the 1st overall pick for the past 3 years now. I know even though the payroll they could get most of the best free agents for this offseason we will see. Although who would want to go to the Astros, think about it. The highest paid player in the team (Forbes Reports) is THE Erik Bedard who is playing under a one year contract worth 1.15 million dollars. In this quote that Forbes explains "The Astros are on pace to rake in an estimated $99 million in operating income (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) this season. That is nearly as much as the estimated operating income of the previous six World Series championship teams — combined." Wow. Was my original reactions there are so many teams in the MLB how pay their players more then what the Astros pay all their players. Not only that but the stadium cheapest tickets are at like $70 and their expensive seats are like $700 *. I wish the seating for the Yankees were this good.

*Niko Goutakolis and Ticketmaster.

Time for First Pitch (Kelly vs Peavy)

See you after the game with reactions and analysis from all four of us.

Game 3 Preview

We are less than 30 minutes away from Game 3 of the  109th world series. Here is your full preview
Joe Kelly goes against Jake Peavy. Both make their 1st WS start, the difference is Kelly is a rookie and Peavy is a veteran. The series goes to Busch and that means no DH. The Red Sox will put Big Papi at 1st, which will compromise their defense and will be forced to take red hot Mike Napoli out of the lineup. This will also affect the Cardinals as they are forced to take their injured star Allen Craig out of the lineup (Craig DH in games 1 & 2). The Red Sox will start Daniel Nava in LF in favor of Jonny Ghomes.
My prediction: Red Sox 5-2

Game 3 Lineups

  6. Davis Freese, 3B

Welcome Ben!

On this day with Game 3 later tonight, we would like to announce our newest member to the Pepper family, Ben. Ben is a baseball expert from north of the border, even though he is a Yankees fan. He is here to bring us more analysis just like Me, Niko and Pablo already do

Game 3 news-notes

Joe Kelly vs Jake peavy in today's game 3 of the World Series.
First pitch scheduled for 8:07 pm
As a reminder the series in tied 1-1 in a best of 7 series.
The last time the cardinals won the World Series was 2011 and 2004 for the sox
Nikos picks: Cardinals 6-5

Lance Lynn to start game 4

The St. Louis Cardinals have opted to stick with Lance Lynn for Game 4 instead of starting ace Adam Wainwright on 3 days rest. Lance Lynn is 1-1 this postseason while Wainwright is 2-2. Clay Bucholtz expected to Game 4 for Red Sox

Who's at first?

As you might know the World Series has shifted to St.Louis, where NL rules apply which means no DH. Mike Napoli and David Ortiz are the regular 1b and dh but when there's no DH what will they do. Well Mike Napoli was better in the Alcs with a couple of bombs... And in the first two games o the World Series Napoli has hit a 3run double. David Ortiz howeverhit that game changing Grand slam in the Alcs Game 2. And Also the Cardinals has a problem that is kind of the same. Allen Craig the cardinals best hitter before getting injured has been limited to hitting only. Do you take out the silent Matt Adams for for Craig? I believe not because Defense is essential at First.

KC Royals coaching update

As we take a day off from an exciting world series, other MLB News goes to the forefront
The Kansas City Royals made some changes on Friday, hiring Don Wakamatsu as the bench coach for the 2014 season

Skip Lance Lynn?

After Joe Kelly tommorow the Cardinals wil have Lance Lynn pitching. My concern is why not skip him! It IS GAME 4 of the WORLD SERIES!!!

Offseason Preview

Hi Baseball fans
As we take a day off from the WS action I would like to preview this offseason. While many baseball fans, such as me, consider the offseason the worst part of the year, here at pepper we will have many new and exciting things going on:
- Each one of our writers will have their own FA and trade report throughout the offseason
- the first ever Pepper awards to honor the best of baseball during the year
- new and exciting features including a few new contributers to add to our list

Has the World Series lost its luster?

I always here people talking about baseball's golden age in the 1940s 50s and 60s when the world series was played in the day and teachers would let students watch the game in the classroom. Now world series higlights are overshadowed by NFL action. Baseball has a viewership problem. I think baseball should try to put a couple of day games in the Fall Classic, specifically 1 o'clock. Also I don't think it is a coincidence that since 2003 there have only been 3 world series that went 6 games or more. In past decades, fans were used to seeing 7 game series all the time. Baseball fans are accustomed to watching 15 games a day everyday. This is why the WS can feel a bit boring. The DS is a far more exciting round with up to4 games a day. MLB must fix this problem soon.
Please,
A worried baseball fan

Niko's opinion on the 2013 World Series

Well it's World Series time again. the cities of Boston and St.Louis get to enjoy a fall classic. But for those 28 other fan bases, like the Dodgers or My Mets, who do you root for? I think that's the best part about the World Series, to analyze the first game and then chose. I hope everyone enjoys this World Series as it will be the last time to hear the crack of the bat until late March.
My pick is THE pick that I chose in march and they are...... The Cardinals
Go National Leauge!
