Is Matt Carpenter worth an extension?

Carpenter has a career 306 average, has hit 17 Homeruns, and questionably one of the best third baseman in Baseball. The rumours are that Carpenter is looking for a 4-5 Year $50 million deal. Is he worth it? I will say no. Carpenter, still hasn't established himself as a star. To earn star money, you must be a star. However, considering where money has been thrown to this offseason, I wouldn't be that surprised!
This post is dedicated to Dr. Frank Jobe, the first man to preform Tommy John Surgery. Dr.Jobe recently passed away. Our thoughts go out to his family
