Jeff Suppan, who hasn't pitched in the majors since 2012, officially announced his retirement. Suppan had a140-146 record and a 4.70 ERA during his career.










The Tigers are trying to lock up Max Scherzer to a contract extension. Scherzer becomes a free agent after the 2014 season.









The Tampa Bay Rays claimed southpaw pitcher Pedro Figueroa off waivers from the A's. Figueroa made only five appearances for Oakland in 2013.










The Chicago White Sox signed left-handed relief pitcher Scott Downs to a one-year deal worth 4 million, with a club option for 2015. Downs pitched for the Angels and Braves in 2013, going 4-4 with a 2.49 ERA ,37 K's, and 26 holds(10th overall).
