While there are still many big free agents left on the market, there were some small signings made today by teams who look to contend in 2014. The Rangers signed starting pitcher Tommy Hanson to a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training. Hanson was one of Atlanta's best pitchers since he was a rookie in 2009, but pitched awfully and was unhealthy last season with the Angels. In only 13 starts, Hanson pitched 73 innings and had a horrendous 5.42 ERA. Despite that, he reportedly has a chance to be Texas' 5th starter. In another minor league deal, the Angels signed relief pitcher Brandon Lyon, who pitched for the Mets last season.
