When do standings count?

There is 3 answers to this almost daily question. The more "smart" response is always. The game on September 23rd is just as relevant as the game on May 1st. Yet, the playoff picture dosent form out in May, so I disagree. Many say Memorial Day. I like this response, yet still to early. In my eyes when a last place team can logically still make the playoffs, it's too soon. Lastly, and in my opinion correctly, is the All-Star Break. That is when the Standings begin to crunch for real. If your MLB Team is in last, there is more than plenty of time.
